The Challenge:
Osteoporosis is a silent epidemic. Nearly 20% of men and 50% of women will face a lifetime risk of fracture. Bone strength and density peak at around age 30. After that, we start to lose bone mass as we age. If we don’t do anything about it, this bone loss can lead to osteoporosis, an increasingly common condition in which the bones become weak, brittle and more likely to break. Left untreated, osteoporosis can lead to increased risk of fractures, loss of upright posture, pain and other skeletal problems. In fact, fractures from osteoporosis are a leading cause of disability among seniors today.
